FITNESS CHALLENGE TO TURN DUBAI INTO A GYM
In less that 15 days, you wont’ have any excuses not to go to the gym – because the entire Dubai is set to become an open, active gym when the 30-day fitness frenzy starts on October 18. This year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) promises fun workouts and heart-pumping activities in every corner of the city, helping residents achieve a daily target for 30 minutes of exercise. More than 40 events and over 5000 free classes are lined up for everyone to get moving. The action-packed calendar also includes an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest high-intensity interval training class.

WORLD’S 1ST CULTURAL VISA IN UAE
The UAE Government has announced a long-term cultural visa – a world first – for artists and professionals working in the creative space. A Creative Free Zone in Al Quoz, Dubai Global Literary Season, Schools of Life that will transform Dubai’s public libraries into integrated cultural center are among a slew of new intiiatives announced by the Dubai Ruler to consolidate Emirate’s stature as a global destination for culture, innovation and talent.

WHY UAE IS NAMED LAND OF TOLERANCE
The UAE has been a home to places of worships of many religions for several decades. Christian of various denomination from across the globe and believers of many other religions and sects have been freely practicing their faith in this land of tolerance. The UAE boats of having some of the oldest discovered places of worship: Ed Dur’s sun temple in Umm Al Quwain is one of them. Another historical gem is on Sir Bani Yas Island, which is one of the oldest discovered of Arabia. Today, many churches and temples stand as major landscapes and integral part of the multicultural communities across the Emirates. Some of them were built decades ago.

SAUDI ARABIA WELCOMES THE WORLD, LAUNCHES TOURIST VISAS
In a historical move, Saudi Arabia launched tourist visas for citizens of 49 countries, the visa will be issued through the Kingdom’s embassies. The new tourist visa, that costs 440 ryals, will be valid for up to three months and will be issued upon arrival to residents of these countries. Women travelling from other parts of the world are no longer expected to wear abayas but will be required to wear modest clothing. The announcement also put the spotlight on several projects that are poised to position the Kingdom’s as the ME’s luxury tourism hub. The ambitious projects aim to attract tourists from all over the world and are part of a larger plan to boost the GDP to 10% from the current 3%.

LOUVRE TO SHOWCASE 10.000 YEARS OF LUXURY
Louvre Abu Dhabi will present 10.0000 years of Luxury, a ground-breaking exhibition that explores the history of luxury for the first time in the Middle East. The exhibition that will open on October 30 features approximately 3500 projects including fashion, jewelry, visual art, furniture and design, and explores how luxury has been defined by diverse cultures from antiquity to the present day. It also displays works from Louvre Abu Dhabi’s collection and offers a rare chance to revel in and evaluate the changing fascination with luxury. The luxury of fashion is highlighted with both vintage and contemporary creations by iconic fashion designers.

$1M FOOD TECH CHALLENGE LAUNCHED
Four winners who develop most innovative ideas and effective tools for food production and management in the UAE will share a $1 million prize. The Ruler of Dubai launched the “Global Food Technology Challenge” – the largest of its kind that seeks to develop innovative solutions for food production and management in the UAE. The challenge aims to attract and encourage companies, individual, scientific and research institutions in the UAE to employ advanced technologies that will aid in developing innovative ideas and effective tools for food production in the UAE.

CENTRAL BANK UPGRADES UAE’S GDP GROWTHB VIEW ON OIL SECTOR
The CB of the UAE has revised the Country’s growth forecast upward for 2019 following strong growth in the first-quarter of this year, led by the oil sector. The Second Quarter Economic Review showed that GDP is projected to grow 2.4% in 2019 as compared to the 2% foster growth in the first quarter. The economy expanded 3.7% in the first-quarter compared to 2.2% in the previous report. Nonoil sector growth is forecast to grow 1.4% this year against 1.3% in 2018.

DUBAI EXPO 2020 UNVEILS MASCOTS
The official mascots of the Dubai Expo 2020 have been revealed during a colorful event at the Dubai World Trade Center. The event, attend by Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin-Rashid Al Maktoum, started with an explanation of mascots’ backgrounds, personalities and roles: Rashid, Latifa, Terra, Alif and Opti, fully designed by Emirati team. Rashid and Latifa are two children who represent the Emirati population. The remaining mascots are robot, each of which represent an Expo sub-theme: sustainability, opportunity and mobility.

DI MAIO: MATERA 2019 IS A BRIDGE TO EXPO 2020
Speaking from New York where he took part at the General Assembly of the United Nations, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, has announced an important appointment due to take place this coming month in Matera, the European Capital of Culture. The event will put the focus on “sustainability, respect for the environment and trade with the UAE”, he explained.
