The Italian Space Economy expands in the UAE


Telespazio, a European leader and one of the world’s leading operators in the field of satellite solutions and services based in Rome, has announced that it has signed an agreement with Thuraya – the subsidiary of the Emirati group Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat) – for the global distribution of mobile satellite services. With this agreement, the joint venture between Leonardo (67%) and Thales (33%) makes available the solutions proposed by Thuraya through its global network.

Thanks to this agreement, Telespazio customers operating in strategic sectors – government, maritime, energy and emergency management – will be able to integrate Thuraya’s mobile solutions with their platforms and thus access a wide range of commercial applications. -on-the-move and comm-on-the-pause.

“The combination of our technology and the global distribution capacity guaranteed by Telespazio makes this partnership ideal for addressing all the opportunities offered by the market, and allows us to provide end users with a high profile offer” comments Shawkat Ahmed, Chief Commercial Officer of Thuraya.
The manager of the Emirate company of mobile satellite services also stresses that “the partnership with Telespazio, a company with a long history and expertise in the sector of mobile satellite services, is part of our ongoing effort to consolidate Thuraya’s global presence in key markets and sectors, so as to guarantee users constant access to our solutions “. With its mobile satellite network, Thuraya makes voice, data, and broadband services available both on land and at sea and in flight, and covers over 160 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. 

The agreement in question is part of the group of activities that have long involved a strategic sector: the aerospace sector which sees the respective reference agencies carry out a constant and productive dialogue.
