The first 90 years of Pininfarina

The Chamber is pleased to celebrate the 90th anniversary of one of the world’s best-known brands, but it does so with the satisfaction of also citing a prestigious Director, such as the engineer Paolo Pininfarina, who left this position in 2018.

His presence, as well as his precious farewell letter, testifies to the attention that important Italian companies dedicate to the Chamber.

Pininfarina is an Italian story, which makes us reflect and understand what a global success is and what are the characteristics to achieve it.

The story of the “most famous coachbuilder in the world”, created in 1930 by the will of Battista “Pinin” Farina, talks about creativity, passion and imagination, about art applied to progress, about that Italian spirit capable of establishing itself in the world.

The story of the craftsman who becomes a global phenomenon is, first of all, the story of a family, and then comes to the inevitable reality of a multinational company.

The book that celebrates the first 90 years of Pininfarina, presented at the Milano AutoClassica exhibition site, is a catalog of images and a precious document that outlines the path of the automotive passion mixed with the art of “bodywork”, a typical Italian heritage.

The list and the narration of 632 “creatures” of the Turin atelier, from the first bespoke bodyshops to the current technological hydrogen jewels, compose an exciting and instructive picture of the evolution of mobility and its creative and artistic implications, from 1930 to 2020.

The volume “Pininfarina. 90 years “traces the history of a prestigious brand, a history made equally of one-offs and large series models, and illustrates how in the world of the automobile, industry and beauty, side by side, can be able to fascinate generations of enthusiasts and create a reality that remains an Italian pride.
