Oscar-winning director Gabriele Salvatores will tell visitors at Expo 2020 Dubai the beauty of Italian regions.

Salvatores has been entrusted with the task of narrating the Beauty of the Country evoked by the title of the Italian participation – “Beauty Unites People” – which in turn reflects the Expo Dubai claim Connecting Minds, Creating the Future. In the coming weeks, the gaze of the Oscar-winning director will travel through the regions that have joined the project, producing footage that will then be edited and then offered to visitors at the Italian Pavilion for the entire duration of the exhibition semester. The entire story of the Pavilion has been imagined as the journey of a glance. At the beginning, visitors will find themselves admiring the landscape of the exhibition itinerary and will then enter along an itinerary of narrative architecture made of contents that express the best of Italian expertise and beauty: from cinema to theater, from landscapes to the most innovative companies, from cutting-edge technologies to sustainability. The narrative constructed by the Director with the participating Regions includes a series of highly scenic and impactful contents, starting with those of the Belvedere, the place from which beauty is seen: a circular window on the territories of the country with 360° projections of the most evocative Italian landscapes, which also signifies the importance of protection and care of the inestimable value that Italy represents for the entire world. The journey continues with a film on Italian ‘Craftsmanship’, told on a screen of 100 square meters; the narrative then continues with ‘Short Stories’, temporary exhibitions with a thematic focus on Italian culture and art as well as contemporary innovations in the fields of health, medicine, space and design.

“The Italian beauty that Gabriele Salvatores will masterfully tell is the beauty that is based on the diversity of his territories and his knowledge: thus our Regions will be, for the first time in a Universal Exposition, artistic partners of the Italian Pavilion, creating its contents for the entire period of the Expo,” said Paolo Glisenti, General Commissioner for the participation of Italy in Expo 2020 Dubai.
