From August 6th, 2021, Italians will be required to show the Green Pass certificate in order to get access to restaurants, museums, indoor gyms, outdoor concerts and outdoor expositions. The ministry of public health has uploaded 61 billion certificates on the designated e-platform so far, and 48 billion of them have already been downloaded by the population. Thus, two Italians out of three are already able to access the otherwise forbidden places.

WHERE DO I NEED IT?

The Green Pass will be needed to enter every bar or restaurant where meals are had inside, sat at the table. It will be needed to get access to museums, cultural places and expositions as well. The green certificate is then required to take part in all those sports activities which take place in closed spaces: pools, gyms and spas. Furthermore, some outdoors events will require the possession of the Green Pass as well. This is the case in particular of concerts, shows, events, feasts, fairs, congresses, conferences and sports events. Theme parks, amusement parks, game rooms and betting parlors, bingos and casinos, inside cultural and recreation centers close the list.

WHO NEEDS IT?

Anyone over the age of 12. However, there will be some exemptions certified by the medical personnel for those who couldn’t get vaccinated because of health issues. Individuals with special pathologies and those who had an allergic reaction to the first dose of the vaccine will be exempted. Those who got vaccinated or infected abroad can apply for the Green Pass as well. The forms to be filled, in English or with sworn translation, shall be validated by the Local Health Authority.

WHAT SANCTIONS?

A 400€ fine awaits whoever enters the aforementioned places without a valid Green Pass. The penalty for owners and operators who allow access to someone without a certificate is the closure of their activity for up to ten days. Checking whether clients are in possession of the Green Pass is an owners and managers’ duty.

WHERE IS THE GREEN PASS NOT NEEDED?

Outside, for food and drink at the bar when not sat at the table, and to get take away food. It is not needed in hotels, accommodation facilities and in all the outdoor sports centers. Childhood education centers, summer centers, churches and houses of worship are excluded as well.

HOW TO GET THE GREEN PASS?

You will get the Green Pass 15 days after the first dose of vaccine (but in that case the certificate will be valid in Italy only). In order to travel abroad, you’ll need to wait for the Green Pass released 14 days after the second dose or after the first dose for those who had already gotten infected in the past. Those who still haven’t been able to download their certificate from the online platforms will be allowed to enter the aforementioned places by showing the vaccination certificate issued by the vaccination centre or the certificate of occurred healing. Even certifications released by USA, Canada, Israel, Japan and all the countries being part of the Schengen area are valid.

COVID TESTS

A negative Covid test gives the right to 48 hours long Green Pass.
