General Assembly

The General Assembly

The Members’ General Assembly meets at least once a year by March 31st.

It can also meet on any other occasion when it becomes necessary. It is convened by the President or, in his place, by the Vice-President.

The President has the right to convene it whenever he deems it appropriate and is required to convene it in writing, by mail, fax or e-mail within 10 days. when the Board decides or at the motivated request of at least one-third of the members.

The notice of the meeting must contain the agenda, the date, the place and the time of execution and must be sent to the members at least 10 days. before the Assembly.

Proxy voting is authorized within the limit of only one proxy per person. Voting by correspondence is not authorized.

The Members’ General Assembly:

  • discusses and approves the annual reports of the Presidency and the Auditors;
  • discusses and approves the final balance;
  • discusses and approves the budget;
  • elects the members of the Governing Council from among its members and fixes the number up to a maximum of 15.

Discussions of a non-associate nature will not be allowed.

The General Assembly 2024

The General Assembly of 25 March 2024 was held in the Dubai Meeting Room of the Tower Plaza Hotel, Dubai.

The agenda covered the following topics:

  • To approve the Report of General Assembly 2023
  • To discuss and approve the Report of Activities for the year 2023 and the Program of Activities for the year 2024
  • To discuss and approve the Financial Statement 2023, Auditor Official Report for the year 2023 and Financial Summary 2023/2024
  • To discuss and approve the Budget for the year 2024 and the Membership cost
  • To elect the 2 Board members for the period 2024 – 2029
  • Miscellaneous

On March 25, 2024, the General Assembly of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the UAE took place at the prestigious Tower Plaza Hotel in Dubai. The event marked a significant moment for the Italian entrepreneurial community in the region, with the distinguished presence of the Honorary President, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Faisal Al Qassimi, who brought his support and congratulated the Chamber for the path taken and the exceptional results achieved.
The Assembly was chaired by President Stefano Campagna, and the topics were presented by: Emma Chiaramonte – Chamber Manager, who introduced the 2023 Activity Report; Roberta De Santis – Chamber Manager, who outlined the 2024 Activity Program; and Counselor Member Piero Ricotti, who presented the 2023 Financial Statement and the 2024 Budget Forecast.

During the Assembly, the successes attained in the previous year were examined and discussed, reflecting on the ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation in promoting Italian commercial and cultural interests in the UAE. Participants had the opportunity to evaluate the proposed program for the upcoming year, outlining strategies and objectives to continue supporting and developing economic relations between Italy and the United Arab Emirates.

A significant moment of the Assembly was the election of two new members to the Board.
Architect Alessio Belloni was reconfirmed in his role, thus confirming his valuable contribution. At the same time, the new member, lawyer Antonio Varvaro, was enthusiastically welcomed, bringing with him extensive experience and an innovative perspective to the Board.

The General Assembly represented not only a moment of reflection on past successes but also an opportunity to look to the future with optimism and determination. Through continued collaboration and commitment, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the United Arab Emirates continues to be a beacon of excellence and a vital bridge between the Italian and Emirati entrepreneurial communities.

Finally, Secretary General Mauro Marzocchi wished to emphasize the significance of the presence of the presidents who have successively held the Chamber’s presidency from 2004 to 2024, Piero Ricotti, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Faisal Al Qassimi, and the current President Stefano Campagna.
