His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman recently announced the projects for THE LINE, the city of the future that revolutionizes the relationship between the individual and the metropolis by creating a unique urban experience of its kind.
The Saudi megaproject has been announced in January 2022, but the details are only now known.
The city of the future has no roads, cars and therefore no emissions, it works 100% with renewable energy and is surrounded by nature for 95% of its surface.
At 200 meters wide and 170 kilometers long, THE LINE will accommodate 9 million people and will be built on an area of just 34 square kilometers.
The ideal climate all year round will ensure that residents can enjoy the outdoors and the surrounding nature. All facilities will be accessible within five minutes or by high-speed rail, with 20-minute end-to-end transit.
The vertical city will be built on a human scale in contrast to today’s metropolises conceived by prioritizing technology and infrastructures.
THE LINE projects will create around 380,000 jobs by 2030.
