ITALIAN GOVERNMENT MISSION TOWARDS UAE
From the 14th of April unitl the 16th there has been the Italian mission in the UAE, organized by Confindustria, ICE, Abi and other partners belonging to the Cabina di Regia per l’Internazionalizzazione, under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Economic Development. The mission, which was guided by the Minister of the Economic Development Luigi Di Maio, assisted in the role of internationalization delegate by the State Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Manlio Di Stefano represented an important opportunity to deepen the opportunities of industrial, commercial partnership and investment for Italian companies in a country that plays a primary role in the Region, also in view of the Universal Exhibition to be held in Dubai from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021.

GLOBAL HOSPITALITY BRANDS BOOST INVESTMENT IN MEA
The Middle east and Africa (MEA) Region will continue to present opportunities for global hospitality companies, with both Marriott International and Hilton announcing plans to expand their hotel portfolios. Marriott International revealed that it expects to add 19 new properties and more than 3000 rooms to its MEA portfolio in 2019. meanwhile, Hilton has announced that it expects to open almost 100 hotels in the Region in the next 5 years, almost doubling in size in the UAE and quadrupling the size in Saudi Arabia.

DUBAI RANKS 9TH IN WORLD’S TOP MARITIME CAPITALS IN 2019
Dubai has moved up in the ranking of the world’s top 10 maritime capitals in 2019, taking up the 9th spot this year. The Emirate is expected to continue its growth, further consolidating its pivotal role on the global maritime map to become one of the most important and powerful maritime capitals. “DMCA’s focus on research and development and innovation to develop integrated logistics programs and advanced infrastructure and legislation is paying off, commented Sultan bin Sulayem, group chairman and CEO of DP World. Dubai’s local maritime sector is home to more than 7400 active companies, producing over 13.000 activities and creating 76.000 jobs.

Emirates has completed the installation of bespoke Expo 2020 Dubai liveries on 40 aircraft, with its final A380 aircraft emblazoned in the distinctive orange “opportunity” decal rolling out of the Emirates Engineering hangar.One of the largest decal projects ever undertaken at the Emirates Aircraft Appearance Centre, it took 15.000 hours spanning over 14 months to apply the Expo2020 decals on 20 Boeing 777 aircraft and 20 Airbus aircraft.

DUBAI REMAINS FDI MAGNET
Dubai’s status as a global destination for reign direct investment (FDI) was further reinforced as the Emirate was named the sixth top FDI recipients last year. Dubai FDI Results and Rankin Report 2018 revealed that the regional hub receive Dh 38.5 bln in foreign investment in 2018, a growth of 41% over 2017, while the number of FDI projects grew 43% to 523.The Emirate dominated global FDI ranking throughout 2018, receiving more foreign investments than London, Paris, Dublin and Singapore,

UAE-SAUDI DOUBLE TAX AVOIDANCE AGREEMENT TO LIFT TRADE, INVESTMENT
The Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which  is expected to facilitate the two-way investment flow, boost bilateral trade and further bolster economic ties, has come into effect on April. The agreement seeks to strengthen cooperation frameworks in tax matters and consolidate financial, economic and investment relations as well as encourage free movements of capital and service exchange between the two nations.
