DUBAI METRO’S ROUTE 2020 IS 70% COMPLETE
The Route 2020 project – which would extend the Dubai Metro Red Line and link it to the Expo 2020 site – is 70% complete. The route’s rail track is 80% done while its station works are 50 to 60% complete. The station has a design typical to that of the existing Metro stations to maintain the identity an appearance of stations on the Sheikh Zayed Road. However, the interior has been designed to handle passenger numbers that are bigger than the capacity of current stations on the Red Line, while taking into consideration environmental sustainability concerns.

EXPO-NENTIAL APPETITE
Restaurant operators in the UAE expect Dh 2bln in food and beverage onsite sales during Expo 2020 Dubai. approximately 25%  of F&B outlets at Expo2020 plan to offer a sit-down dining experience while the remainder will provide faster services. Around 60% of operators expect a directly favorable impact to their businesses from Expo 2020, while those who believed there would be little direct positive impact on Dubai F&B’s sector mentioned that the most of the activity will be in and around the event site. Emirates has the second highest number of restaurants per million at 2.935 after Paris (3.656), while New York follows with 2.911, London 2.772 and Singapore with 1.320. restaurant operators put Arabic and Indian cuisines’ popularity at 57% followed by 52% for Italian, 48% for Japanese and 43.% for American.

DIFC AIMS TO JOIN TOP 10 CLUB BY 2024
The Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) registered record growth in terms of new companies and is on course to join the league of world’s top 10 financial centers as well as create thousands of jobs by 2024. as per its strategy, the free zone plans to generate over 26.000 new jobs to 50.000 workforce by 2024 from 23.604 in 2018. it also aims to grow assets under management at the DIFC from $99 bln in 2018 by 2024, expand occupied space from 4.2 mln square feet in 2018 to 5.5mln sqft by 2024 and Increase financial firms from 625 to 1.000.

VP OKAYS DH5.8B PROJECTS IN N.EMIRATES
H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has approved water and electricity projects worth Dh5.8bln in the Northern Emirates. He also approved a Dh2.4bln project to build dams and a federal water network that connects the water resources of the Northern Emirates with that of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Additionally, he approved a Dh1.2bln solar power station in Umm Al Quwain, and a water desalination station with a capacity of 150 mln gallons per day.

Travelling abroad from the UAE and need to apply for an international driving license? The Ministry of Interiors had made it easy for motorists, who can now apply for it on their phones on the go. It had launched a smart service to allow the issuance of International Driving License, throughout the various process, including filling the application, paying the fees, getting the approvals, printing and receiving the international driving license the Ministry’s smart application. The app was launched by the end of 2018, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to continue to enhance and expand the scale of services available across the website and mobile applications.
