It is difficult to establish which ones are the most amazing Italian Christmas markets. We can say that the one made in Bolzano is the oldest and most traditional among all, but the overall Trentino Alto Adige region is immersed in an unique and fabulous atmosphere thanks to the Christmas markets and to the lights which illuminate the mountain villages. Piazza Walther will transformed itself, in occasion of the Christmas Markets, in a magical place made by wooden small houses and immersed in a lovely smell of cinnamon. Walking among the stalls, you will be able to taste the traditional places of Christmas time, such fried apples, strudel and vin brule’.
Christmas markets in Trento are not as old as the ones held in Bolzano, but they are actually acquiring greater importance as time goes by. The Chrstmas atmosphere is the authentic one and the Christmas tree located in the center of the town is amazing; the wooden houses are almost 70.
In Piazza Santa Croce the appointment is with the Weihnachtsmarkt, the Christmas market in German style. There are 55 wooden houses where you can find original present ideas, decorations for the houses, handmade products, typical German products and so on. Finally, a group of local restaurateurs will be located in one of the houses to offer traditional plates.
At the Giardini di Porta Venezia, as by tradition, there will be located the Villaggio delle Mervaiglie. In occasion of Christmas the park dedicated to kids will reopen. Santa Claus over his slide, joined by joker elves, a crystal castle and the circus school create a magical scenario.
Verona is the perfect frame to recreate an amazing Christmas atmosphere. Every year, in this period, in Piazza Bra the giant comet shines as the greatest mobile sculpture in Italy. There is also Santa Lucia Fair, the greatest Christmas market of Verona, linked to the important history of Lucia.
From the 2nd to the 23rd of December, the festive atmosphere of Chrstmas will become the protagonist of the ancient Borgo degli stracci di Torino: an area, location of several antiquarian shops, bars, restaurants and ancient local trattorie, united at almost 100 stalls inside Cortile del Maglio.
From the 1st to the 24th of December the hystorical center of Perugia will host the Mercatino delle Strenne. Piazza del Circo will be decorated by stalls where you will be able to find present ideas, Christmas decorations, houses decorations and so on…
For the overall Christmas period, the appointment in Gubbio is with ChristmasLand. The city will transformed itself in a true Christmas village with marketplaces in Piazza dei Quaranta Martiri. It deserves a visit to admire the famous Christmas Tree, which is the biggest of the world, located every year at the foot of Monte Ingino.
